The words you couldn't say The words you wanted to say Now, say them in your own words
AI turns the things you want to say into phrases you’ll actually use, and with spaced repetition and native audio, they become yours — naturally.
THE PROBLEM
Everyone needs different words Borrowed examples fade only your own words stick
Most textbook sentences never come up in your life. The words you need exist only in your own life. PHRAZE works the other way around — what you wanted to say is where it starts, and AI shapes it into phrases you'll actually use.

- See your progress across 5 mastery levels at a glance
Science-backed learningturns the phrases you’ve memorizedinto phrases you can use
Freshly learned phrases come back in short, intensive bursts until they roll off your tongue; once they stick, the intervals widen to lock them into long-term memory. The reflexes for speaking and the spaced repetition (SRS) that keeps you from forgetting — bundled into one schedule. Because you’re studying the words you actually want to say, the more you keep at it, the more they come out on their own.
- Your next study day, based on how well you remembered it
- Learns your study rhythm and reminds you at the right time
- Hit your daily goal and let it become a habit
Every phrase you create, now in native audio
Every phrase you create comes with native audio. Once it’s saved, your phrases play in a natural, native voice even on a plane in airplane mode or deep in the subway. Add it to your daily study, and the natural accent and rhythm help it stick.
- Play anytime in the background
- Repeat phrase by phrase
- Saved to your device — listen even offline
METHOD
Why a phrase you’ve learned
comes out when it counts
When you know the words and the grammar but they still won’t come out, it’s because the knowledge isn’t in a form you can recall. PHRAZE combines well-established principles from research on memory and language.
Retrieval Practice
Recall it before you see it.
Research suggests that recalling something yourself tends to help it stick better than re-reading it. PHRAZE is designed so you recall the phrase in your target language from your own language first, then check the answer. Say it out loud before you check, and it doubles as instant-composition practice.

Chunking
Not words — chunks.
Research suggests more than half of natural speech is built from fixed chunks. And those chunks are processed faster than individual words. PHRAZE has you learn ready-to-use phrases, not isolated words.
Research Erman & Warren 2000 (corpus study) / Conklin & Schmitt 2008 / Northbrook & Conklin 2019 / Fioravanti et al. 2024 (systematic review)
Proceduralization
Intensive, until it’s automatic.
For freshly learned phrases, short and intensive repetition has been shown to automatize the skill of producing them — getting them out without thinking — faster than spacing does. PHRAZE drills new phrases in short bursts, until you can say them without stopping to think.
Research DeKeyser 2007 (skill acquisition theory) / Suzuki & DeKeyser 2017 (distributed practice & proceduralization) / Suzuki 2018 (learning schedule & automatization)
Spaced Repetition
Kept alive until you use it.
Cram it all at once and you lose most of it within days. Memory research has widely confirmed that the more you recall something over spaced intervals, the longer it tends to stick. PHRAZE calculates your next study day automatically, based on how well it went — bringing each phrase you haven’t used yet back right as you’re about to forget it, until the day you need it.

Native Audio
Train your ear and your tongue.
Every phrase comes with native audio. Speak along with it (shadowing / overlapping) to work on your pronunciation and rhythm.

HOW IT WORKS
Meet · Settle in · Speak
Meet
The line you wanted to say but couldn’t, and the expression you found by talking with AI — the phrases you meet stack up, each with an explanation and native audio.
Settle in
Just learn the phrases that come up each day. Repeat them with native audio on the go, and little by little they settle in.
Speak
A phrase you’ve learned comes out naturally when the moment arrives — not borrowed, but in your own words.
The more phrases you can handle,
the deeper your conversations go, into new territory.
And that’s where you’ll meet new phrases again.
WHO IT'S FOR
In
your own words, not borrowed —
to connect deeply with the world.
That’s who this is for.
This is also for you if you...
- Are studying or living abroad and want to go further
- Keep taking lessons but feel stuck on a plateau
- Want to express what you really mean in meetings
- Can ace the tests, yet freeze when it’s time to speak
- Want to connect in the language of a country you love

FROM THE FOUNDER
What's worth learning isn't someone else's example sentences,
but the words you want to say.
You have something to say, but the words won't come. You settle for a rough approximation, using the simple words you know. The conversation ends, but the words you couldn't say stay with you. That frustration is where PHRAZE began. Textbooks are full of generic, one-size-fits-all sentences — but what you really need is the one thing you wanted to say in that moment. Learning should fit each person's context. I'm building a learning experience where, next time, the words you wished you could say come out naturally.
PRINCIPLES
What we care about
Your real life, at the center
Instead of fitting you to a fixed course, we fit the learning to your situations. The starting point of our design is always you.
Grounded in learning science
From procedural memory to spaced repetition (SRS), we design based on research, not gut feeling. The science of language keeps advancing, so we keep learning and keep refining the app.
Focus on learning, nothing else
No ads, no attention-grabbing gimmicks. We strip away the needless decoration and design around one thing: helping you truly improve.
How native speakers actually talk
Not textbook lines, but the natural expressions native speakers actually use — that’s what we care about. We turn what you want to say into real, natural language you can actually use.
